Market-first, stacked strength
Also known as OneOption. Day and swing trades, with a strong market bias. Heavy volume, clean daily charts, and options for income or direction.
Pete Stolcers at OneOption puts the market first. Is it trending or choppy? Then he looks for a stock with a clean daily chart, strong volume, an intraday move and a sector moving with it. Defined-risk options are part of the approach when the stock suits them.
How the setup works
The market comes first. On a trending day, buy the strongest names on pullbacks or short the weakest. On a choppy day, size down or wait. Only then does the stock matter, and the best ones stack several edges at once: a clean daily chart, relative strength against SPY, heavy volume and a sector moving the same way.
Stacking is the point. A stock with strength but no volume may stall. A stock with volume in a weak sector may get dragged down with its group. When the stock, its sector and the market all agree, the odds of follow-through improve. Options are a tool for expressing the view, often with defined risk.
Scans to try
-
Trending NowandReady to Trendseparate names already extended from names still setting up. -
Sector Leadersand the In a strong sector filter use cap-weighted sector RS: require the group to agree with the name. -
Daily-chart filters:
Strong Daily, MA structure (above/below 50/100/200 SMA, EMA stacking), and anchored VWAPs from earnings, quarter and 52-week. -
RVOL,RRVol(volume vs the market) andUnusual Volumecompare a stock's volume with its usual pace.
A ZenBot workflow
- Read the market and sector strength panels before looking at a single ticker.
- On a trend day, start with
Trending Now. For names still setting up, useReady to Trend. - Add the In a strong sector filter so the group backs the stock.
- Require volume:
RRVolabove 1 means the stock trades heavier than the market today. - Check the daily structure with
Strong Daily, then save the scan and turn on alerts.
What to watch for
The hardest part is the market read itself. A morning trend can turn into chop by midday, and a stacked setup loses its edge when the market stops cooperating. Recheck the market before each new entry, not just at the open. The Short Scans side has the same scans for weak names when the market rolls over.
